Today we journeyed to the west coast. An area we had no intention of visiting, but was advised by Rosie Bennett of Kojo Boutique in Lagos to go. She said the trip along the coast from Monte Clérigo to Carrapateira was well worth the trip. She also recommended we have dinner at O Paulo restaurant at Ponta da Arrifana, Aljezur and watch the sunset.
Our trip was an abbreviated version of her recommendation but we took the journey. The route took us interior which was hilly and beautiful. I really like these off the beaten path parts of Algarve.

Our 1st stop was a town or two shy of Monte Clérigo but it was destiny. We found this cute, authentic bakery with outdoor seating. The entire meal of 3 drinks and 3 homemade pastries was 12€ – amazing!

With something in our bellies we moved on to Praia de Monte Clérigo (Beach). The sand was superfine and the water cold but it felt great under our feet. The west coast is surfer’s paradise and now we know why… the waves are grand, the sun blazes and the plants are tough!

Well that was beautiful … off to lunch. We drove to O Paulo as suggested. It was an open, airy restaurant at the point. You gotta love all of the displays of seafood & fish especially of interest were barnacles. Jesse and Christine enjoyed them but, I was not a fan. Honestly, the setting and atmosphere of this restaurant was fantastic but I was not a fan of the food. I found it a little bland, but the egg-shaped salt and pepper shaker helped.. plus they were cute! Christine and Jesse really enjoyed the rockbass.

After lunch, we drove home so Jesse could start his work day, Christine had a few souvenirs to still get and I needed a nap. Last night’s late blogging and the day’s adventures tuckered me out! After my catnap it was laundry time.
Since Jesse had meetings, Christine and I walked over to Wa Sushi Lounge on the Marina. Now that was delicious! We got the Harmony 46-piece platter which was maki, sushimi, sushi, gyoza and tempura shrimp. We also ordered tempura oysters which were a real treat. The sushi platter was enough for 3 people so we took dinner home to Jesse. Now for a cup of tea and chocolate & orange cookie. 😋

It was a really nice adventure for our 2nd to last full day in Lagos. Where did the 3 weeks go!?!
