Today is our 1st full day in Ponta Delgada. We are staying at NINE Dot in the city center. This allows Jesse to work during the week and gives me the opportunity to meander the city streets or make use of the hotel amenities. The hotel also includes a full breakfast which is ample and unique. While the daily basket at Soul Glamping was nice, having food variety is a nice change. Breakfast not only includes a full buffet but an on request menu.

The rest of the morning was spent doing laundry at a self service laundromat, UOCH! It was a clean and comfortable place to do your laundry though hot! No AC or fan. Glad we made it there first because this place is popular and within minutes a number of people flocked to it. What a social scene. We met and had conversations with several people. Below is a nice Dutch man from Bermuda who moved to the island because he said the people are so kind and welcoming. Quickly, we talked about culture, racism and politics. I just love how Europeans just start out with politics and what they think of US politics and the current election candidates. Man, I wish Celia and Karen were here for this conversation – they would have gotten a kick out of it! Love this guy!

Jesse managed to video me dancing while folding and listening to Ethan’s (Ashok’s best friend and roommate) Triple 7 song – definitely one of my favorites. Check out his music under Hiroto Kei via Apple Music or Spotify.

Finally done, we headed back to the hotel but stop along the way to take in the sights and photos.

Since Jesse had another heavy night of meetings, we only did a little exploring and had a very quick dinner at a random place that happened to be open. While there we had a visitor. He enjoyed some pizza crust too.

Turns out here almost all restaurants serve lunch from ~12-3 PM, then close until dinner ~7-10 PM. We keep trying to grab an early dinner since Jesse has late meetings so we are missing the best restaurants. Starting tomorrow, we set reservations for late night dinners.

Jesse spent the rest of the night in back-to-back meetings. I spent the time testing out the hotel pool, steam room and blogging on the window seat in the reading corner surrounded by cool art and maps. This hotel has great seating areas and art throughout the hotel. Seriously, someone has to enjoy this hotel and have some fun!

Before heading to bed, I discovered that our terrace was all light up and hanging from the lights is your friendly, neighborhood spider. Pretty …
