Jesse and I had a casual day Wednesday in Covilhã since Jesse had work all afternoon & evening. We started our morning sampling the breakfast included with our hotel. The selection was varied, plentiful and included freshly baked pastries and cakes.😋

We spent the day checking out the city via the CovilAR app. Yes, there is such a thing – super cool. Of course we had to geek out and do the entire tour of 35 POIs (Points of Interest). We zig zagged the tiny alleyways and came across amazing art and vistas along the way.

VISTAS

After the tour, Jesse headed to work and I headed for 1/2 day of solo time. Passed a cool vintage car on the way. My 1st stop was Pizzeria Parmigiana. The scent of the pizza during the tour lured me back for a margherita pizza and bold Tinto – cheers! Then I spent the rest of the day at the spa which was perfect until a gaggle of rowdy men showed up and disturbed my peace – argh! Luckily, it was time to meet up with Jesse.

At 8 PM, Jesse took a dinner break and we walked over to Craft BBS (Burgers Beers Spirits). Except for 1 drunk stranger, the roads were essentially empty! This isn’t just because we are in a small city in central Portugal. It felt like this in Porto at night. According to the hotel desk manager, Covilhã is a young student city and there is plenty of nightlife on Tuesdays and Thursday (we shall see tomorrow).
I was still pretty full from dinner so a light meal of salad and soup for me meanwhile, Jesse dug into a pork burger with fries! We topped off dinner by sharing a lime mousse which tasted like a lime, greek yogurt and was refreshing. Back to the hotel … More work for Jesse and I vegged out watching Rambo III and dosing off.
