We finally made it to Ferragudo, a small fishing village ~30 minutes east of Lagos. The town including the Castelo de São João de Arade (Fort) and Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição translated is Church of Our Lady of Conception hovers above Rio Arade (River) and small beach strip. How idyllic is the boat on shore.

Once again, there are steep streets, alleyway and stairs but surrounding it all are beautiful shrubs, fruit trees, and flowers. How perfect the bench with the Amigos sign. Some nice, old man took the picture then vanished into thin air.

Then there are the quintessential, Portuguese blue and white tiles with painted sceneries and random paintings on walls and boxes. I have yet to figure out what the boxes are. Some of these walls are nice and shady for leaning against and taking a break. Today was hot!

Enough walking in the sun, we need a lunch break! Refreshing drinks and tapas were in order. Followed up by flan for Sue and I and gelato for Jesse. I had to take a zoomed in picture of Oreo gelato for Ashok.

After stuffing ourselves and melting from the heat, we headed back to the apartment so Jesse could start his work day while Sue and I relaxed and did some travel bookings. We then had a light dinner of salad with cheese & prosciutto before heading to Fado in Old Lagos.

After many tries in Lisbon, Sue and I made it to Fado in Lagos. The food was terrible as we were warned in reviews and by the hotel staff in Lisbon – it was a good thing we ate prior.😊 The Fado however, was excellent. Many say that Fado is melancholy but most of the songs were uplifting. The singer had a fantastic voice. She was engaging and explained each song in English prior to singing. The musicians were good too. It was a son and father duo. The son played the Portuguese guitar which has 12 strings vs 6 while the father played a standard guitar. Check out the Fado videos!
All in all, it was a good day with new experiences in both Ferragudo and Lagos!
