Earlier this afternoon during our meandering, we came across this cute restaurant that we all agreed would be perfect for our 1st dinner in Lisbon. Turned out to be the perfect choice …. great setting, delicious food and a server (Antonio) who assisted with meal selections and Lisbon activities.Savitri’s Dish: Shrimp curry with basmati rice – non-traditional and very tasty and paired with a Portuguese specific white which is a cross between an oak Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. We couldn’t resist taking this picture of the leg of meat over Jesse’s headPortuguese “Pão de Ló” sponge cake: a traditional dessert of Portugal and the specialty of the restaurant chef. It is definitely a sponge cake but creamy and rich with a hint of caramel flavor but not too sweet. It looks a bit strange but was surprisingly tasty. I can’t help but take this picture of the typical, European alleyway lite up at night. Our return back to the hotel included this special treat that awaited us. We were too stuffed to have it but tucked it away for an afternoon snack tomorrow. All in all, it was an ideal 1st day in a new country consisting of interesting sights, good food and really welcoming locales. So far, we are loving Portugal!
