Today was a relaxed day as we eased into the local time zone and way of life. A couple of us started the day with a mix of cereal, granola, and freshly chopped cherries. Has nothing to do with Mallorca but.. it’s really good! Now why don’t we have this at home all the time?!

We went out and got some pastries and fruit for the house. Turns out watermelons are heavier in the heat than I expected. Found a rest spot on the way back.

Ready to go!

We squeezed in a popular tourist spot today before the weekend throngs took over. Cap de Formentor is a peninsula that reaches the northernmost point in Mallorca at the Formentor Lighthouse. It is ~9 mi long with a very twisty, roller coaster road winding along it. When we were here in 2018 we drove the length of it, but now they force cars to park near the base and take a bus. It reduces the environmental impact, reduces the traffic, reduces the need for parking at the tip, makes it easier, and makes for an entertaining ride! The drivers know the road very well, and exactly where to accelerate, brake, and best scare the passengers..

There’s not a lot out there, but the views in every direction are spectacular.

There were some horny old goats..

And.. we caught a bus back fairly quickly since the earlier driver had warned us that they were short staffed and that some people would likely end up walking the whole thing!

We returned to the car in the sticky heat and saw that the car park had direct access to Formentor Beach.. just what we needed!
A few moments later..

The water was warm, clear, and brilliantly colored. Not much to see snorkeling other than some friendly fish, but very comfortable to hang out in the water.
We had skipped lunch (there may have been some ice cream bar snacking but no evidence substantiates these allegations) so we headed for dinner in Port de Pollença. After a little challenge finding parking then finding a restaurant with openings, we found ourselves at a great Italian spot, Il Tano. We had homemade pastas, drinks, and salads while enjoying people-watching. There was a lot going on.

We walked down to the waterfront, also filled with people, many of them milling along the craft booths. We then walked along the waterfront to a gelato shop called Bravo Gelato. The young ladies serving were very nice and the gelato hit the spot.
