Today we had to say “see ya later” to Philly and head home. We started the day with nice walk through the sun (finally!) to a coffee house named Habitat. Ashok had read about their Japanese coffee tower cold brewing method. We both got an iced cold brewed coffee and had a nice chat with the barista.

We walked back through the neighborhood again, which is filled with little artsy and architectural bits. I will note that , while sunny, it was still quite cold!

The idea was then to drop by one of the many great bakeries as we left town. However, after a series of closed fails we headed northeast to an interesting place called Bread Crumbs Bakery in Tacony, PA. It is a new Puerto Rican place with a large dessert area, a coffee barista, and hot sandwiches. They are a community hub started by a local pastor, and while the faith messaging is.. a bit creepy, all of the people were wonderful. At one point a big bald muscular mechanical supply guy walked in the front door. He saw me seated eating and smiled and said hi from ~15 feet away. He walked over and shook my hand and proudly said that their pastor had started this place. Tacony seems like a difficult area, but truly seems like a success story.

We continued north, picked up Sevika in Queens, and after a long high traffic drive got back home in MA in the evening.
