Our initial intent was to get up early and be at the cable car ticket booth by 9 AM but that did not happen. We finally got some sleep and woke up at 9 AM, dragged our feet to breakfast at Slice and finally made it to the cable car ticket booth at ~11 AM. Let’s just say, we did not beat the lines.

Phew, we finally make it up to Monte and now to make our way down to the Jardim Botanico Madeira via a deathly slow cable car. Seriously, why am I doing to this to myself!

After 2 cable car rides and some fright from the heights, we finally arrive at the botanical garden which was a little underwhelming. Below are the best pictures of all the flowers we saw. Penang Botantical Gardens in Penang, Malaysia is way more spectacular so check it out!

Everyone loved the lizards though …

Some people are just constantly fooling around … Eliza! …. Jesse!

Some of us are more contemplative …

All this walking … we are pooped. Is it lunch time yet? We need to add some food pics to this blog!

Down we go via cable car. This is the 4th one and thankfully, the last one. Did I mention, Eliza and I are afraid of heights. It is a good thing we were rewarded with gelato at the end of the ride. 😋

The rest of the afternoon was spent quietly at home. We ventured out after 8 PM for dinner at The Beerhouse which was recommended by the Bolt driver when we arrived. I was not impressed. Being underwhelmed resulted in very little photos. We only took pictures of the 3 things we liked: garlic bread and desserts. The atmosphere was nice though …

The night walk and skyline made venturing out worth it. The weather so far has been perfect – warm and breezy. We were most impressed by how clean the city was and now we know why! Each night they literally power wash and sweep the streets. Check out the truck below.

Until tomorrow ….
