It was a sleepless night for everyone in the house with many of us going to bed around 4 AM or waking up all hours of the night. Not to mention, the lack of air conditioning upstairs.

Riki, Jesse and I woke up first and decided to venture out for a coffee and a pastry. After a pitstop at a mediocre bakery, we meandered a few alleys and came across a traditional shop offering pastel de nata and cafe for 1.5 EU. Who can pass that up. A better shop with tastier offerings.

Back to the house to check in on Eliza who was up and actively working. She was hungry so the next trio: Eliza, Riki and I (Savitri) took off for some breakfast at Slice Pastelaria, discovered earlier in the day.

Fueled and in search of fresh fruit and snacks for the apartment, we headed to Mercado dos Lavradores (Farmer’s Market). It’s an indoor, open air plaza with stall after stall of goods: produce, meats, cork products, handmade chocolates and so much more. We still have to explore the 2nd floor!

We made out like bandits – 7 types of fruits, a couple cheeses, salami, 4 types of rolls for 1.42 EU, wine and chocolate! Now back to check up on Jesse who stayed back to blog, work and rest.

After more work (Jesse/Eliza) while others read and took a cat nap (Riki/Savitri), we ventured out for a 3rd time to inquire about the cable car and the botanical garden. Stay tuned … that will be part of tomorrow’s adventure. On the way there we checked out another portion of the marina, came across interesting statues and no day is complete without a pitstop at a Gelateria!

What is this supposed to be … are these shadow children on a dinosaur?1?

Back to the house for several hours of individual activities before we venture out for the 4th and last time of the day. After some research, we decided on a local restaurant, Olivia (4 shops down) for dinner. It turned out to be a great choice. The restaurant had a modern, warehouse vibe to it. The staff was very friendly and the food fantastic!

Cheers to our 1st real, family dinner. McDonald’s at 1 AM just does not cut it

Oh boy .. here we go again … it is 1 AM and I am still awake – good night everyone!
