Today was a late start for Jesse and me. We shut our blinds completely which resulted in a full, light black out. Talk about disorienting! Our original plan was to check out a neighboring fishing village called Ferragudo and have seafood before the start of Jesse’s work day. That plan went out the window (minus the seafood lunch).😊

After a quick coffee on the patio, we headed to Old Lagos for a seafood lunch! Jesse found this highly reviewed lunch spot called, “Eattico” known for Street food di pesce fresco (fresh fish). On the way we passed more amazing plants in our neighboorhood.

Now for the good stuff – seafood! Jesse had the codfish sandwich with frites with this beet aioli that looked strange but tasted amazing. Sue and I had tapas. We finally tried sardines, but we are still not a fan. We might try a few more varieties. The rest of the tapas and the mango-orange juice was delicious!😋 Plus, the opportunity to sit outdoors on a breezy, 78° day was hard to pass up. Jesse just had to take a selfie to send to his bros back home – showoff!

More beautiful cobblestone patterns and building tiles …

We were on our way home so Jesse could start his work day, when we came across this vendor, Doris Gaspartic who had such incredible art of famous people: Frida Kahlo, Einstein, David Bowie, George Michael, Amy Winehouse, etc. Frida Kahlo is my absolute favorite artist so I had to buy a t-shirt. Thinking of you Steph! 😘🕊️

Off went Jesse while Sue and I made a pit stop at the Thai Massage place for 30 minute foot rub. We had been talking about it since the extensive walking in Lisbon. It is exactly what the doctor ordered then, off we went to re-join Jesse at home. Sue cooked and I did laundry with Ginja mineral water spritzers in hand while Jesse worked away with the occasional pop-in to comment on the aromas and to grab a snack.

Tonight’s dinner was a special treat. Sue made us Sri Lankan Shrimp Curry with sautéed asparagus and white basmati rice. We enjoyed it with the Trinca Espinhas white house wine from the Vinho Regional Alentejano, that we purchased during lunch stop on the way to Lagos. It was a perfect pairing.
Tonight we chill and get an early night’s sleep. We have been staying up until after 1 AM since we left the US on April 6th so we need to get back on a normal schedule. Good night! 😙
